Jetwing unveils destination project ‘Welcome to Your Negombo’


With the blessings of the Negombo Hoteliers Association, Jetwing unveiled a new and ambitious project designed to create awareness and knowledge about the popular tourist destination of Negombo through online technology. The project is titled ‘Your YN-FBNegombo’ and will be activated throughout the year.

Launched after the monthly NHA meeting, the Your Negombo team began the evening cocktail with a presentation on the project itself – through a dedicated website ( and an app available on Google Play and the Apple Store, visitors to Negombo can access, learn, and even update information on popular sites and activities in the area.

Featuring articles and images that are crowd-sourced, the vibrant and colourful site will be an independent authority promoting the destination of Negombo with the support of local stakeholders. With sections listing out places to see/visit, eat, stay, experience, etc, the platform brings together new and returning visitors and local businesses in one arena. In addition, a brochure and map by author Juliet Coombe are currently being printed which will provide a physical element to the Your Negombo experience.

“Negombo has been our birthplace, and the potential here as a travel destination is tremendous”, said Ruan Samarasinghe, Managing Director of Jetwing Hotels. “We have invested a significant amount to get this project off the ground, as we feel that Negombo has been lacking slightly in terms of destination marketing. With much to offer visitors from all over the world, and with the support of the NHA, and other stakeholders, we’re looking at bringing an almost completely online and social look at branding Negombo the way it should be,” he continued.
